I have confession to make.
I never had braces as a kid or teenager. Ever since my baby teeth fell out and my adult ones came in, I've been blessed with straight teeth. But I'm honestly a very rare case.
My older sister, however, had the whole get up - braces, head gear and then a retainer. And I was not nice to her about it. I think I probably called her every mean name I could think of.
"Brace Face", "Metal Mouth", "Foil Face"...etc. Yah, I wasn't nice. But I mean, I was only 10 years old so gimme a break ;-)
It wasn't just my sister, though. Almost everyone I knew growing up had braces, it was kind of the "norm" I
think. Most all of my friends had braces, I remember that specifically because of the things they couldn't eat while they had them. Things like gum, caramel, popcorn, really gummy or chewy candies, or even really hard candies. Truthfully, I was always very thankful I never had to get
braces. I mean, wearing clunky metal brackets on my teeth did not sound
appealing whatsoever.
As a Mother now, I always hoped I'd pass on my good teeth genes to my boys, because I didn't want them to have to deal with the discomfort of metal braces. But here's a secret! Even if they end up needing to get their teeth straightened, I've just recently been introduced to an amazing alternative to metal braces.
I attended a PNW Blogger event, where we got to learn all about Invisalign and how it works!

So what is Invisalign?
It's a sophisticated, clear alternative to metal braces for Adults, Teens and even Pre-teens. These are removable aligners, that use a series of clear aligners made from a lightweight plastic that sit smoothly on the teeth allowing for a more comfortable fit. And the best part is that they are just as effective as the traditional metal braces.
Though the cost is roughly the same as metal braces, the benefits far surpass using the metal stuff. The Invisalign system requires less frequent office visits, shorter appointments, no emergency visits for broken wires or brackets, and don't cause irritation. Not to mention, those that are active in sports, won't need to worry about accidental injuries or cuts that the metal brackets can cause. And because these aligners can be removed, people can eat, brush, and floss their teeth as they would normally.
And the best part about Invisalign? You can smile confidently. They are virtually invisible! That totally sells it for me.
So whether you have an underbite, overbite, or crooked teeth, you could be a candidate for Invisalign. Take the smile assessment to find out if Invisalign is right for you. What has your experience been with braces? Have you or anyone you know used Invisalign to straighten your teeth?
